Alan has been working in IT for over 25 years and has held leadership positions from early on in his career. He's known for having technical knowledge paired with an understanding and ability to work with people on their level.

I first met Alan a number of years ago when he contacted me through the Canadian IT Managers blog. What struck me right from the beginning is his desired to share and connect with other IT professionals. A few years ago, he started up the Halton IT Pros group which meets once a month at the AGSI office in Hornby, Ontario, just north-west of Toronto, to discuss what's new in IT and share ideas and knowledge. Unlike other IT groups that bring in speakers, the Halton IT Pro group has a loose agenda that everyone is expected to participate in, resulting in lively discussions and passionate conversations. The group members routinely ask and receive technical and career assistance from each other.

When he's not working on his servers or strategizing about the next technology to support AGSI, you'll find Alan with his family up at the cottage, on the golf course or hunting for geo-cached treasures.
